New Releases for 2009
OWL: Информация для тех, кого уже сейчас интересуют грядущие прог-релизы. В общем, короткий список групп, чьи новые диски ожидаются к выходу в 2009 году. Blind Ego, Credo, Cryptic Vision, Galahad, IQ (“Frequency”), Karnataka (“The Gathering Light”, весна-лето), K 2 (рабочее название “Black Garden)), Mangrove (“Beyond Reality”), Manning ("Number Ten", февраль), Metamorphosis (“Dark”, весна), Mindfields, OSI (весна; музыканты - Kevin Moore, Jim Matheos plus PT drummer Gavin Harrison, a guest appearance by Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth), Queensryche (“'American Soldier”, весна), Satellite (“Nostalgia”, март), SBB (“Iron Curtain”, конец января), Shadowland, Silhouette (“Moods”), Solstice, Tinyfish, Touchstone and many, many more… Pure Reason Revolution (“Amor Vincit Omnia”, март), Steve Thorne (“Into The Ether”, апрель), ACT ("5th"), Cross (The Thrill of Nothingness”), Dream Theater, Iluzjon - поляки (“Silent Andromeda”), Leap Day (ex-members of Flamborough Head, King Eider, Nice Beavier), Magnum, Mr. So & So. THE GATHERING will release their next studio album in April 2009, called "The West Pole". This band have found a new female vocalist (replacement for Anneke van Giersbergen) and will have two female guest singers on the CD. The album, containing 9 tracks, is produced by René Rutten and will be released on their own Psychonaut Records label. The new PENDRAGON DVD will be called "Concerto Maximo" and should be released during the early months of 2009. The total running time of the DVD is approximately three hours. The main feature was recorded last year, live in Katowice, on their 30th Anniversary Tour. Artwork has been done by Killustration and is based on the Pure concept. Daedalus (“The Never Ending Illusion”), Glacier (“Ashes For The Monarch”), Phideaux (“Number Seven”), Umphrey’s Mc Gee (“The Bottom Half”).

OWL: Французы ABACAB выпустили новый диск "Mal De Terre". Вопреки своему названию, эта группа отнюдь не стремится копировать музыку одного из альбомов группы Genesis. This is a prog band, influenced by some of 70's era legends with Pink Floyd as the main guiding light, but blended with modern prog metal in a Dream Theater vein. http://www.myspace.com/abacabfr

OWL: THE REASONING have now released their DVD from last October's show. The film includes the group's entire set from the Bilston show: Sharp Sea, Dark Angel, Fallen Angels, Aching Hunger, Chasing Rainbows, Shadows Of The Mind, Call Me God?, Absolute Zero, Breaking The 4th Wall, How Far To Fall?, A Musing Dream and Awakening... OWL: Итальянцы Ubi Maior выпустили свой второй альбом - "Senza tempo". In comparison with their debut work ("Nostos") the new songs represent a remarkable step forward to a more structured writing, with more experimental moments. The sound of the band is still vintage, heavily based on Hammond organ, mellotron and pianoforte with a hard-edge guitar lines. http://www.ubimaiorweb.it./

OWL: San Sanich пишет: С 16 мая слушаем его Положа руку на сердце, могу признаться: Riverside меня никогда не впечатлял (в отличие от других польских групп, таких как Satellite, Millenium, Mindfields, Point Of View, Grendel). Об их новом альбоме сообщил лишь в качестве информации - для тех, кому это интересно. А то обстоятельство, что Сан Саныч УЖЕ слушает "Anno Domini High Definition" (и за истекшую неделю он ему не надоел), свидетельствует о разнообразии меломанских пристрастий в выборе фаворитов...
San Sanich: OWL Увы именно этот мне и не понравился. Я как то больше тяготею к мягкому прогу, а не с металлическим уклонам. Из поляков Satellite, Collage и их производные мне нравятся.

OWL: RICK MILLER - "Falling Through Rainbows". 4th album from this artist. Flirting with Pink Floyd, Beatles, Moody Blues, Alan Parsons Project, Barclay James Harvest and Steve Hackett to mention some of the most obvious influences, Rick brings us a fine piece of beautiful symphonic rock that stays interesting and vital throug out the whole album. A fine piece of work indeed!
OWL: Английский лэйбл Rise Above Records выпустил дебютный альбом калифорнийского квинтета ASTRA. Я не удивлюсь, если Саныч вскоре изменит своё первоначальное мнение о лучшем дебюте текущего года. Пока же диск "The Weirding" - фактически сразу после выхода - получил восторженные оценки на Западе. Stunning album-of-the-year candidate. Moogs, Mellotrons, Arp Odyssey, flute, guitar. Long tracks filled with devastating guitar and phat analog synth solos. Vocals tend to be sparse and unabtrusive. These guys really went deep into the prog rock playbook. As the albums winds its way through its near 80 minutes I'm reminded of Barclay James Harvest, PFM, Genesis and Pink Floyd. Cosmic in part but also symphonic when it needs to be. You'll hear echos of the classic 1970s bands, both spacey and symphonic. Fantastic Roger Dean styled cover from noted artist Arik Roper brings home the bacon and pushes this one clear over the finish line...in first place! BUY OR DIE! http://www.myspace.com/astrasound
